Oi! London!

Oi! Man, are we ever having a jolly good time in London right now! I love this city. Why have I never been here before?

This is Carl Spring. He was attending today’s OneLight. He’s an amazingly good dude.

Cheers, Zack

Just wait until you visit Amsterdam, Zack. You’ll cry your eyes out when it’s time to leave 😉

  • Toby said on September 12, 2010

  • Parkylondon said on September 12, 2010

How long are you in London for? As you might gather from the names, I am a local. It’d be good to catch up, do a photowalk.

  • Parkylondon said on September 12, 2010

Oh, and one more thing. Please. No more Mary Poppins.

  • Nikon Teeth said on September 12, 2010

Hey zack, who is this guy? Rad photo!

Hey glad your having a good time here in the UK Zack, looking forward to seeing more of your shots, I wish I could have taken the time off work to attend your mixer. Maybe another time. Enjoy! :)

  • Guillermo said on September 12, 2010

You should definitely visit Barcelona, Zack. Lots of beautiful places for your pics… And also lots of fans of your work (including me, of course)

  • Mars said on September 12, 2010

    Yo Zack

Was this photo taken with an umbrella and gridspot at the center to give it that feathered look?

    Cheers lad!

  • Carlos said on September 12, 2010

Hi Zack, your wide angle shots are phenomenal. I like it. Have a good time in UK. — Carlos from New Zealand

  • zack said on September 12, 2010

Nikon – That’s Carl Spring. Updated the post with a link to his site. He’s a rad dude.

  • zack said on September 12, 2010

Mars – This was shot with a 60″ reflective umbrella half way closed down. The grid with soft chaser would have worked well here as well.

Looks to be a jolly good time from here. Try to get some awesome shots with the city in the background at night/sunset! Please!!!

Looking forward to seeing what images you produce there

    Never been to London before?
Zack, you look and talk like someone who is born there, should feel right at home!

  • Wale said on September 13, 2010

I don’t know how you never went across the pond to London but glad you’re enjoying it. Wish you could go to Wales, Scotland, Liverpool, etc. There’s just too much to see.

Friday night was such an inspirational time – super bummed I couldn’t make the workshop.

  • Luke said on September 13, 2010

    You’re in London? Missed that.

  • Daf said on September 13, 2010

Crap – didn’t realise you were in town.

Any Onelight socials at all ? Would love to attend one.

  • Daf said on September 13, 2010

Actually – there’s a point there – if I’d have known I might have come along to a workshop even – but even though I’m a fan of yours I’d not heard of it. Dropped ball somewhere ?
Don’t think people would mind if you publicised your workshops a bit more on here.
Also http://www.onelightworkshop.com has no RSS type feed.

Zack – fantastic workshop and it was great meeting you, you’re a natural teacher and I feel pumped up for my next jobs! Really appreciate the amount of time you spent with us. Have a fab time in Manchester and easy on the newkie brown, mate…

  • zack said on September 13, 2010

Daf – It dropped off the site because they sold out. Sorry you missed it! I will be back.

PS – I make a point of not overly publicizing my workshops. Sign up on the mailing list for updates.

Cheeky of you to pop this up when I wasn’t looking!

Good to meet you dude, such an amazing day. I thought we were going for a classic beauty shot though, lol.
Honestly one of the best days ever, and you have kicked my arse in a lot of good ways, and I promise I will keep you updated on the next stages. If you need another Viking and I happen to be in ATL, just give me a shout!

  • Sachin Khona said on September 13, 2010

Ill definitely attend next time you’re in town Zack!!

    Welcome to our city…

    Rock it out!

So when are you going to make the big trip down under? :)

  • Levy Carneiro Jr. said on September 13, 2010

    great great fan here :)

Is that “oi” from Portuguese? (which means “hi” in English)

  • zack said on September 14, 2010

@Levy – Oi is slang for “Hey!” in the punk scene. It can be used in a friendly manner or a confrontational manner. “Oi Mate!” or “Oi! Look at me again an’ I’ll kill ya.” It’s said to be taken from the greek word “polloi” which means working people. In America there is a negative connotation to using the term “Oi” because it was adopted by the skinheads.

  • Roland said on September 14, 2010

Love the first 2 shots from the post.

I think you still have a little bit of a “douchebag” in you with the brick wall for a musician as the first photo. hahaha.

Keep up the great work and stop teasing with the “strangers” portfolio.

Thanks for an amazing day on Sunday. A long day, a lot to take in but so enjoyable. I haven’t been able to concentrate on the office job since – keep getting ideas in my head that I want to go out and try!

Hope you enjoy the rest of you trip over here, and I look forward to sharing a pint or two with you again, next time you’re back in London. I promise to have those numbers committed to memory but then! 😉

@Carl Spring – Great to meet you on Sunday mate and look forward to seeing “the next stages” on your website.

    Hey Zack,

Would email this to you, but if I’m not mistaken watching one of your critiques, that is probably not overly effective :).. Just wanted to share this with you… After catching up on all of the critiques I had do some really deep thinking about my own creative vision. Hope you enjoy the read if you have a couple minutes.
